Creative Journal & A New Kind of Flower

The second project from this month's club was this Creative Journal which we made from scratch and sewed together with some twine (trimmed in the new cherry cobbler tulle!)  The journal was stamped with the Ex Libres background stamp and we inked the edges for a vintage feel.  I thought this would be a good project for club so that we could all jot notes in our journals (if we liked) throughout the year on things we learn or things that inspire us...plus it's nice to be able to just make a journal as opposed to buy one and then revamp it/decorate it:)

The flower was the other new technique we did...it is made out 4 scallop circles punched...3 from the large punch and one form the regular punch...all you do is slit into them with your slits (ever 2nd scallop), then spray them lightly with water and curl the 2 scallops around a skewer and let it try...layer them up...add a vintage brad and voila...an adorable 3 dimensional flower!

Collaging with Affection Collection

The first project for this month's club was this card.  I always try to highlight a technique or two in club projects.  The techniques for this card include collaging with stamps as found in the focal point of this card which was created by collaging 4 different images from the Affection Collection set.  The other technique we used was related to dry embossing, only not with just ordinary cardstock...no, instead we used the new coordination cardstock from the Holiday Catalog and embossed it with the new Lacy Brocade embossing folder and then sanded the surface to get a really intricate and vintage feel!

You know me, I like dimension, but on this card we did something different...reverse dimension by cutting an label framelit shape from the matts and stamping the images in the background.  Framelits are great for that!  The project was finished with some Victoria Lace...which I'm not just about completely out of again, so you know what is on my order;)

Affection Collection - Noel

As you've probably noticed, I just love the Affection Collection stampset in the Holiday catalog.  I think it's great for everything from friend cards, to anniversary, to wedding, to birthday to Christmas even:)  I was inspired to try it for Christmas by a recent post from Heather S.  To finish this card I also used one of the new brass buttons from the Holiday Mini and the Festival of Prints dsp from the Holiday Catalog too!

Tonight is my Stampin with Sherri Club, so stay tuned tomorrow and the next day to see this month's club projects!

Masculine Birthday - enjoying life!

This was the birthday card I made for my brother this month.  The sentiment comes from the From My Heart stamp set and I coloured the image with midnight muse, soft suede and gumball green markers.  The card base is midnight musel and I used a bit of gumball green and vanilla card stock too...I also used our new piercing matt and matt pack to add the stitching around the image...and I used the apothecard accents and labels framelits for cutting the images and embossed the card base and green piece both with embossing folders (tulip and argyle).

Fall Banner

Just felt like making a new fall banner this morning.  I used the Morning Post Alphabet stamps, and the Perfect Pennant Bigz die.  The rosettes were made using dsp from the Orchard Harvest Collection and my Simply Scored Tool.  The banner is strung together with Linen Thread and buttons.  I trimmed the pennants with Victoria Lace gathered from behind and I used the En Francais background stamp on the Early Espresso pennant forms.

Wedding Card - Affection Collection

I made a wedding card for a co-worker this week using the Affection Collection stamp set and the hearts framelits. I took some inspiration from Shelli's journal in designing this card.   I also used some smooch spritz and the spritzer tool...oh and that Gossamer Lace stamp that I mentioned in my last post.  This card is a little larger than a standard card too so I made a custom envelope with the diagonal plate and the simply scored tool.

Everything Eleanor Card

It was my sister's birthday this week and this was the card I sent her (with some inspiration from Sandi). It was made with the Everything Eleanor stamp set and the Fan Fair dsp.  And that lace piece you see sticking out was stamped with the Gossamer Lace stamp which I just *had* to have and then realized this week I had never used yet?!!  Do you have any stamps like that...you love them and you get them and then you don't use them...crazy!  I love the way it stamps so I'm glad it caught my eye this week.  The band under the ribbon was trimmed using the finishing touches edgelets which i just love and the button on the crumb cake seam binding bow is a brass button from the Holiday Catalog...love them!
